Maddaddam has two narrative focuses, narrated by the characters Toby and Zeb. Toby, the protagonist, has leadership instincts, is persistent and independent, guiding the story with her psychological narrative, relating present feelings with flashbacks of her life.While Zeb is a brave, bold and intelligent man, who guides the narrative by telling stories he has lived in the past, sharing his life experiences for the benefit of the group.
